New Paradigms in ELT in Argentina: La Pampa
June 2nd 2012

The workshop for Trinity and APPI in La Pampa, on Saturday June 2nd 2012 attracted about 70 participants who stayed the course, literally! They were a bunch of extremely knowledgeable teachers or student teachers who were happy to participate a in every activity. We spent an extremely productive six hours on both theory and practice. Just waiting now for the Evaluations to come rolling in for me to have some new bedtime reading!

Thanks to Trinity and APPI for such superb organisation and for a lovely welcome.

  1. Dear Susan Hillyard,

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to participate as the main speaker in the 2nd International EFL Teachers’ Congress: Effective Practices & New Tendencies to be held at the University Of Amazonia, Florencia- Caqueta, Colombia from 14 to 15 May 2015.

The University of Amazonia is the second national university in the country, it receives students from Huila, Putumayo, Caqueta and Amazonas among other states. It is very common to see a mix of cultures at the campus. Indigenous, afrocolombians and whites study and share aspects of their cultures in different events at the university. The main branch of the university is located in Florencia –Caqueta, Colombia. The city is the golden door of colombian amazonia, full of fauna and flora with wonderful landscapes that make this city unique in the country. The city is small, peaceful and amazing with a great gastronomy and an interesting nightlife. The people from the city and the state are friendly, kind and honest. They welcome foreigners as they were native.

The overall theme of the Congress is “Effective Practices & New Tendencies in EFL”. The conference will be an opportunity to discuss the current situation, challenges and advancements relating to language teaching as a foreign language. We seek to share experience and best practices on teachers’ work to promote language learning in our society. The participants will focus on how to change, reorient and adapt new methodologies, research results and theory to their classes. Further, discussions will include practical suggestions on how to become reflective teachers and to empower the acquisition of a foreign language in our region, country and worldwide.

The Conference will be divided into main lectures, concurrent sessions and workshop sessions g, providing teachers, investigators and professors the opportunity to focus on specific areas from their own perspective and national experiences. The main conclusions of the Conference will be reflected and incorporated into our blog to share our experiences.

Please refer to the attached Information note for more details. Should you have further queries about the 2nd International EFL Teachers’: Effective Practices & New Tendencies, please address them to Mr. Eulices Córdob (eu.cordoba@udla.co), Mr. Willington Lopez (wi.lopez@udla.co) or Ms.Carmenza Aguilar (english@uniamazonia.edu.co) or eflteacherscongress@uniamazonia.edu.co
